I once spent £90 on getting a small tank and all the bits for it - to set up a hospital tank for a baby fish with columnaris, that was born in my tank and did'nt actually cost me anything. I must have "mug" tattooed in invisible ink on my forehead

By the way my fishie lived and is thriving.

I have cheap fish, so there's no doubt in my mind that I spend a lot more on housing and upkeep than I ever did on the fish...

5 gallon setups: a little over $50 each
Fish inside: $5 for feeder guppies and dwarf pencil fish in one, $5 for a female betta in the other

10 gallon female betta community setup: $75 or so
Fish inside: no more than $25

10 gallon split tank: $100 (setup and plexiglass dividers)
Fish inside: $20

29 gallon: $150
Fish inside: $15 for the bichir, $8 for the oscar, $10 for the midas... and I'm about to spend $350 or more to get them a new massive tank

But hey... you can't put a price on love, right?

Hmm, some of my tanks are definately more than the fish, the Betta mini community for example:

glass to make it £45
(I bought the expensive stuff by mistake ) )
Fluval 104: £45
Heater: £10
Power compact lights: £55
Wood to make hood:£10
Sand and misc: £10

Total for housing: £175

Fish

1 CT Betta: £5
2 Otos: £6
8 Dwarf Rasbora £20

So that's about £31 of fish...

As for the large community, that's about £1000 for around £300 to £400 of fish.

iv had 4 setups since i first started here..


2ft all together for the tank setup £75

plants an decor (it was forever changin) £60

fish (bogstandard fish that died) £30



3ft all together £105

plants fish ect another 60

then i changed from gravel to sand and u can add another 30 on that..


4ft 250 for everyting apart from fish an plants
plants.. did a huge spend an brought 100 worth
fish were bog standdard so again 30-40 max



diff 3ft.. tank itself about 40 (with everything)
fish bogwood and other decor... meh about 40





man i could have probably gone on holiday for the amount iv spent on it

it was a used tank from a friend it has about 30 dollars worth of fish though

erm...the amount of fish ive murdered oer the past 2 years i proberbly could buy both my tanks again!!!!!!

hehe, Mine might work out similair to that - although no fish have been lost in the last month or so
