Heya guys,

My low tech aquarium is all going nicely, mosses of all varieties seem to love growing in it!

However, despite having Java fern (of various varieties) in most of my aquariums, I just can't seem to get it to take off in this aquarium...

First off my ramshorns keep having a go at it (I've mediated this with the addition of a assassin snails and so numbers are much reduced).

But regardless, they seem to go through a very, very slow version of 'crypt melt' with portions of the leaf turning a darger green and slowly turning translucent...

The tank has good flow and good light, is at 24'C and has regular water changes. I've started adding a general liquid fert (small dose) to see if this helps at all...

Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: Oh yes, lights are on from 7am-11pm, I have no algae problems (in tank - get plenty on cover glasses), water is soft, pH 7.2-3.
