Help With Hang On Filter

I believe so. Wait for more people to respond though. I haven't actually put filter floss in my filter. I've had my tank for almost 2 years and I haven't had to replace my filter pads yet. I've heard about it from lots of different people though.

Thanks!

Does anyone else know if this is ok?

I'd try an lfs first. if you can't find one there then I'd consider making my own. you should be able to get filter floss from your lfs. (lfs=local fish store)

This is a good idea if you can't find a cartridge to replace this one. Although this one has carbon in it it will still have biological value when the carbon is exhausted. Some people don't use carbon at all and if you need carbon you can put some in a nylon stocking and drop into the filter. There is a product available here in the states made by 'Ginger' to replace most of the cartridges out there ask your lfs about Ginger. Scott

Does anyone know for certain that I'm ok to just put filter floss in the filter instead of using this...

It is perfectly safe. And it will work. My only concern is that you need to keep it away from the impeller. Other than that it should be fine.

It IS fish safe
If you put it into your filter it will work just as well as your filter cartridges. . Probably better since it will take up more of the area inside the filter. Ton's of people have done it.

I've never done it myself though so I don't know exactly how to go about it. As long as the impeller is seperated from the interior of the filter box though then I just can't see why you can't just cram it in.

That shouldn't be a problem, the impeller is covered by the casing and there's also a seperate section where the filter floss goes so it can't get to that area.
