Ive been posting for help in the emergency section of the site, but ill some it up for you here.

Sakura (the owner of this account) was stung by something in her marine tank, and is in the hospital...

Her phone notified me of a reminder to "redo CO2".

The ppl in the emergency section have already confirmed that she has a DIY pressurized CO2 system, with a canister and airline tubing.

Please help me figure out what im supposed to do with it..or let me know if it safe to leave it alone until Sakura gets better and comes home.

I dont think she would have co2 in a marine tank

She has multiple tanks, one of which is a freshwater planted (this is the one she is talking about) and many people inject CO2 into their reef tanks.

You said pressurized. So I'm guessing its a canister and regulator, not the yeast plastic bottle kind.

Is there, something that looks similar to this anywhere around the planted tank. If there is, can you take a look at the gauges and see what they say, in terms of PSI. The one with numbers in the 1000's is going to be the tank pressure, the other one gauge with numbers in the 10's is going to be the in-line pressure. Hopefully its not out, cuz then you shouldn't have to do anything with it.

She has a pressurized setup according to her post in the emergency section. She said that there is a large metal canister connected to the tank via airline tubing.

DIY pressurized CO2 system.

This sounds more like a DIY setup to me. It also says there is a cannister and some airline hosing. Need more info or pics here.

The statement re-do CO2 would also imply DIY yeast to me. Why would someone need to 'redo' pressurised unless they had gone into hospital and knew the cannister was about to run out. Would you ask someone just to 'redo CO2' if it were a pressurised setup and knew nothing about pressurised setups? I know I wouldn't without a full 20 pages of instructions!!

Got to be DIY IMO otherwise the user would've given some really detailed instructions to ensure no overdose.

I've searched through all of the posts made by CDarmychi and there is no mention of a CO2 system in any of them nor in the profile. How do the other members know what she has?

Sorry for the slow replies...its been a bit hectic and i figured the lants are the least of my worries...

Sakura has a big metal cannister hooked up to her tank, and we assumed its a diy, i haven't the slightest idea myself. **note....weve also discovered some soda bottle constructs as well...**

The note on her phone was just a reminder to herself, I just happen to have her phone here.
She didnt know she was going into the hospital, she had an allergic reaction to her lionfish's toxin. So its not her fault I have no clue.

As to her CO2, im assuming that as long as i dont touch it, that it wont blow up on me or anything. So Im just going to leave the canister alone, but Im wanting to try to do whatever she had planned to do with the soda bottles, if thats possible. Is it just a matter of fixing up the mixture? Is there any special mixture thats used? Any info would really be appreciated, as when this is all resolved, I would love to get a tank of my own, so its for both of our benefits, really.

The other members are trying to help me as much as they can, and I truly am thankful for their help. Even if they werent positive as to what they were, they pointed me in the right direction, which was to come post here and ask the experts.

**edit....serves me right for asking questions before reading the suggested reading lol...thank you killudead and aaronnorth**

I think that I may have confused the OP in the emergency section. When she first stated that she had gotten an alert to re-do the CO2, I assumed that it was DIY and told him/her so. Then he/she came back and said that their was a large canister near the filter and I showed a pic of a CO2 tank and asked if it looked like that. The OP said yes so we went on from there. That is, I'm assuming, where the idea that it was DIY pressurized CO2 came from. Sorry for the confusion.

So although she has pressurised and Yeast setups I think we have cleared up the reminder on her phone now. The pressurised is fine as is and she just wants to remix the yeast mix.

What size soda bottles? If they are 2 ltrs then I used to use 2 cups sugar, 1 hep teaspoon of bakers yeast (dried fast acting yeast) and then fill with lukewarm water to where the bottle starts to bend in toward the neck (2 thirds up.) then reconnect.

Job done for a week.
