Hi there gingerbread,

You don't say but you look to be doing a fishless cycle. It can take up to 2 or 3 weeks (at the worst) for the very first addition of 5ppm ammonia to drop all the way down to zero ppm. You are on your way, ammonia is slowly dropping. Later the A-Bacs will have mulitplied into larger numbers and will be able to drop ammonia within 24 hours. The fact that you are already seeing some nitrite(NO2) is a good sign too.

In the first post of a fishless cycling thread its also helpful to mention the tank size and tap water readings.

Good to see you back waterdrop (and as an aside thanks for the help with my fishless cycle - all complete now!)

Ginga is doing a fishless cycle there's been a couple of other threads already.

Ginga you don't state if you've added any more ammonia since the first lot and if so when and how much?

Nope i added the first dose of 3ml at the begin wgich was about 6Days ago have not added any since
should i be adding more

i read the cycling post on here
Add and wait method

thought i was supposed to wait for ammonia to drop t O before adding any more???

if im going in wrong direction please
tell me

thanks
Ginga :good:

could some please tell me if i should be addig Ammonia.???
at how much and when?
thanks and
good evening :good:

The next time that you add any ammonia should be when your ammonia drops to zero or near zero. Then you only add enough to return to around 4 or 5 ppm and only once a day.
