Help Please! Random Fish Deaths :(

Oh no, so sorry for your losses, RIP little fishies.

Is there any chance someone used your bucket/bowl you use for water changes for something else without you knowing? Or used any cleaning materials/sprays near your tank while you were out?

i had two completely random deaths over the weekend, my sister had 4 the only common denominator we could find was the higher temperatures??? I never add chemicals to my tanks.

The deaths could be down to temp shock. What is aeration like in the tank?

temp shock ive done it this way since i got the tank

aeration is good =/

ive got a powerhead just for surface movement, so that isnt a problem at all; ive directed the other one to the surface aswell.

im not gonna look at the tank until tomoro, its really upsetting me

Temp shock could have been the last straw and finished the fish off! You havent had the lid off and outside windows open.

Did you just pour the hole water or do it gradually in during the wc? A sudden change in temp which happens during wc can cause temp shock to a fish that is already stressed out!

i have never dumped the water in instantly, its never actually occured to me

i poured it in gradually with a little cup

Well GBRs are very sensitive to water quailty, all seems well for a few months and then they suddenly die for no reason. I have known a few people on hear that it has happened to. Do you know the gH of the tank?

its kinda sad ive had them for 6-7months and this happens ####s sake

i dont know the gH of the water, i need to buy a test kit i think =/

Hey, i do know its true water companies add extra stuff sometimes into the water without notice.

I would test the tap water, treat the water for chloramine and if in doubt call your water company and see if theyve changed anything.

I think in one of your other posts you have DIY CO2? Are you still doing that? Wonder if something happened with that?

I don't think a DIY setup would produce enough co2 to harm with without leaking white stuff into the tank...
