Help Please! Random Fish Deaths :(

tank: 20gallon
cycled: Yes
How long running: 7 months
Filters: 2, 1 UGF and 1 inbuilt with carbon, ceramics, and alot of sponge
heater: Yes ( 28C)
Water stats: Ammonia 0
NitirItes 0
NitrAtes 10-20ppm

Fishes: 2 Corydoras
1 German blue ram
5 Rummy nose tetras
2 baby cockatoo cichlids ( less than an inch, they will be rehomed so please dont say anything about this...)

Yesterday i done a 40% waterchange, declor water. Done a gravel vac and a new scape and dosed EasyCarbo and TropicaNutrition.

2 fishes died ealier today, 1 of the smaller dominant German Blue Rams and a Corydora completely random.
the corydora was acting very strange before the water change aswell, but the Ram seemed fine; just the odd chase to fend of the other less dominant ram =/

Looking at the fishes now..

the other Ram is looking stressed, its not got its full colors beaming out, it has alot of grey all over it
the Cockatoo Cichlid has its fins clamped completely, this happened prewater change.
The Rummynose tetras are staying low and not swimming in the middle; i trimmed alot of the plants down so there is no cover in the middle/top is this why they wont swim up? do they feel unsafe?

Also, could the Easycarbo and Tropica Nutrition cause these deaths? i havent had a death in a long long time
im dosing 2-3ml easycarbo and 5-6ml TropicaNutrition

The ram was the hormone bred one aswell; dont know if this means anything or is useful.

Any change the water board could have done something to the water, like added extra chlorine for instance.

The plant additives wont have done it.

Rams can go downhill fast, often for no apparent reason.

nothing added to the tank at all, apart from declor and the ferts.

I dont think the water board done anything =/

but how comes the other ram is dark? does he miss the other one? and how comes the cockatoo is clamped? should i do a water change again?

ill add some carbon to remove any bad chemicals incase

Rams tend to go dark before they die, clearly the cockatoo isnt doing well either, do a 30% w/c, double dose on the dechlor incase there is something in the water, apparently (and this is just what Ive read) water companies sometimes add extra chlorine to the water when they flush the system and they obviously dont tell anyone when they do as its safe for us but not for the fish.

Run some carbon too to be on the safe side.

have been using it for a few weeks now, around 2-3ml a day, if not, then every other day =/

the Cockatoo Cichlid is completely bloated now and is swimming with diffficulty

It sounds bad. Honestly, I would drain the tank, and put the fish in a bucket, and fill the tank back up with new water. Then, acclimate the fish to the new water. Sounds like it got contaminated. Did you spray any aerosol's by the tank?

nothing has been done at all, absolutely nothing

ive now got 2 bags of carbon in the tank, ive done a large water change, and filters are back on =/

The other Ram is coloring up, it turns out it is thhe hormone bred one that lives.

The cockatoo is still hanging in there!

Oh no, so sorry for your losses, RIP little fishies.

Is there any chance someone used your bucket/bowl you use for water changes for something else without you knowing? Or used any cleaning materials/sprays near your tank while you were out?

hey guys

i tried to get water to temp, and i thought that different water tempratures can let them thrive and start spawning behaviour =/

the thermometer is reading 27C at the moment; its been there for a while so water hasnt changed temp to my knowledge.

The buckets haven't been used as i brought them myself and ive told the family

argh, ive turned of the light; i hope they all live but in honesty i dont have much hope for the baby cockatoo
