Ive found a tiny baby floating on one of my leaves, at first i thaught it was like a baby molly that had died so i went to catch it but its moving, its reallllllly tiny i think its possibly a cory. it would escape from my breeding trap what do i do!?

do you have a pop or juice bottle available? If so cut it in half, fill it with tank water and put the baby in there with an air stone and float it in the tank - you could clip it to the glass to prevent it tipping over if you have a bulldog clip or something similar.

What cories do you have? Are you able to post a picture so we can try and help identify it?

Maybe if you could get it in a tuppaware container and let it float in the tank, you could keep changing the water and feed it the appropriate diet :dunno:

I dont have a spare airstone :(, I have 2 albinos and 2 sterbais i know your supposed to keep them in big groups but i had already baught them before i came on here and got the info ill try and get a picture up

tuppaware is just as good, yes. I suggested the pop bottle as that's what I use. Other's have used milk cartons with the top cut off.

You need to look and see if you can see an egg if it's a cory as it will feed off it's yolk sack for at least a day

okay, are you able to borrow one? buy one?

You could use a pop bottle, cut off the top and bottom and cover the bottom and sides with a nylon stocking and tie it, then hang it in the tank... that way tank water will be able to come in fresh from the bottom.

Ive got a little tub put lots of tiny holes in it so hopefully that will be suitable :) I cant find any egg sack :( What can i feed him on? I cant upload my picture of him on here but im absolutely certain its a cory as ive looked at pictures of some on the internet, its so tiny aswell not like my mollys they was quite big

I also have some little worms swimming about in my tank :S ive seem some other little tny things in there aswell they are so tiny like little dots are dart about on the glass, are these or the worms harmful?

does it look like this

the picture is a newly hatched peppered cory - massively enlarged so it can be seen!

as for the worms, it sounds like something has got into the tank, layed eggs and they've hatched. I've no idea what they are but if it was me I'd want them out and gone.

They certainly sound like they shouldn't be there so see if you can catch them all and chuck em out. Do a big water change aswell and check what the water parameters look like just to be sure. I'd hate to reccomend anything else and then read later that you've lost some fish

Keep us posted :)

the worms sound like planaria which are harmless - however you only get them if you are overfeeding your fish and not vacuming your substrate properly. Cut back on feeding and improve your tank hygiene and they should disappear.

thank you so much for your advice and help. also My fish is just a bit more brown than that one and has a darker tail fin so maybe its one of my sterbais, i think both my albinos are female but my sterbais ones tiny and ones real big so im thinking small male and big female? xx

thanks for helping me out there Gilli, I've never had anything like that in my tank so I had no idea what they could be.

As for the cories, the females are usually fatter and larger than the males but I still struggle to sex my own so sexing yours is impossible
