hi all
A customer has brought us a cichlid
I can't find out which one it is (too many :S)

no pic as I'm still at work
ok here goes
body shape is similar to a hemichromis
the base colour of the fish is a dull yellow/gold
there are 8 dark bands that almost seem olive in colour,
although I have a feeling these will fade when settled to
reveal spots running along the lateral line.
the eyes are very dark, but may lighten when settled :dunno:
size is currently 6.5" long, 2" deep
the customer says it ate most of here fish, so it is definately carnivourous

any ideas?

not a peacock bass
no red on the belly so not a Hemichromis fasciatus.

I forgot to say the trailing edges of the dorsal, tail and anal fin is white and red

It would be best if you took the camera to work and took a photo for us, it could be anything.

im no expert by any means, im very new to the fish thing but are you sure it is not some sort of bass, for some reason it looks like a bass, maybe a rock bass?

Poor fish it looks really emaciated. Hope you get it a good home Wolf. Dont know what it is either sorry.

First impressions I thought Tilapia straight away to be honest I thought it could be a poor T Mariae but now I think it could be a Tilapia Zillii ( Baensch Atlas, book 1 p.778).
