Help Finding A New Tank Light!

Welcome to the Pennine/Aldi Fan Club! its a shame as it seemed like a great deal and doesn't give you much confidence in the heater/pump that came with the set-up?

As previousley posted I gave up all hope with Pennine (after four replacement lights)and now have an LED strip light fitted. The strip light and adapter cost me £34, a little steep maybe but it does the job and looks great. I have also received a new hood with a light bulb fitted and wouldn't dare to use it for safety reasons. I will be contacting Pennine/Aldi to see if there is a way I can reclaim some of the outlay for the strip light.

I would press for a full refund not just part, can you post details of the LED strip and adaptor and where to get one as it seems to do the job?
Agree regarding the bayonet light bulb, they told me the can be dunked into the water without any problems! are they simple or what?
keep the pressure on Aldi/Pennine and hopefully they will sort everyone out.

Well when going to maidenhead, i was persuaded by my friends to just give up and buy the light while i was there instead of wasting their time!

£30 later i came home with a light starter kit and bulb. Fits perfect.

Will try and claim it back from aldi, not sure how much luck i will have in that though?

The light i have now gives a slight pinkish glow, is that normal?

Just had a voicemail from Pennine saying the new lights are comming in this weeek and they sending them out straight away.

No good for me as i have also given up and spent £40 on a light as was told it would be 3 weeks before i got a new light last week

Hi this is my first post! I'm new to fish keeping but have been trawling this site and finding it so useful! I bought the ALDI tank a couple of weeks ago, bought substrate and bits and pieces, got round to setting it up during the weekend, only to find this morning that the light won't switch on.

Anybody else find it it weird that there's no condensation tray - I mean, surely water and bulbs don't mix - ever?! I called the company today, this man took my address and number - said that a replacement light, not hood, will be sent out...

So annoyed, anyhow.. The pump and heater are fine, everything is bubbling along and will do so for a couple of weeks before I introduce a few Neon Tetra. What do we reckon about PH kits? I have been told just to get strips, but not to mess about with products designed to alter PH?

You may be best to get a full test kit around £20 as you need to test more than the PH. Strips are ok but i have heard they are not very accurate

Ammonia is normally the worst thing in a new tank.

I got told today they were getting a delivery of lights this week but wasn't sure when, so don't hold your breath.

You mention this condensation tray..... the guy at my local aquatic centre did ask if there was any type of film or covering between the light and the water. but no, there isn't on ours is there? lol.

i still haven't got around to contacting aldi to claim my money back as the computer had a virus! im wondering whether to try and claim for the one i purchased, or get pennine to send the proper one out and then try and flog it on ebay?

Don't want to really get rid of the one i have now. it works great. it's the full length of the hood and is suppose to help plant growth too. once it blows, it's a simple tube to swap over! simples.

Hi, sorry to interrupt upon this topic. abih2005, you might want to consider a different fish if you are new to fish keeping as Neons are VERY sensitive to water quality and pH. Its your choice, you never know you might do great with them, but just a word of warning.

Update

I went into ALDI last week to complian i had to fill out a complaints form.
The area manager phoned me back today and said she was happy to refund me the cost of the light.
