Help! Darth Is Ill :(

Once bacterial infections start to mount up not good news.
Columnaris is bacterial and she using a bacterial med.

You can add pimafix with anti internal bacterial med.
Hows the betta breathing.

I don't think Interpet meds say that on them... if they do I have never noticed it! I always use Interpet and they usually say to redose on day 3 or 4. Anyone else have any experience of Interpet meds?????

Usually redose on the 4th day I think with anti internal bacteria med.

Thanks Wilder. I think I will do a water change though just to be sure before adding the fungus med, I don't want to risk hurting my fish.

I dont usually use interpet so that explains that! good luck with the little chap! x

Thanks! Gonna sort it all when I get home from work, hope he is still with us. looks very sorry for himself right now, and so pale in colour too :(

Ok, water change done, fungus meds added. I really hope this starts to do the trick. I gave him some bloodworms before and he just ignored them and sank down to sit on the gravel :(

Darth is still hanging in there, the fluffiness seems to have all but gone but the scales are still white, and his body is very very pale. He isn't eating as far as i can see and his belly looks a little bloated. And he is constantly resting on a rock. Splodge's fuzzy bit has almost gone so that is good, but he is not eating properly and acting a little out of character. How long should it take on average to recover from fungus? I am starting to worry as go away on the 21st and won't be able to keep an eye on them and medicate. My brother in law will come to feed every few days but cannot be trusted with water changes or meds - just goes over his head!

Keep going with the meds.
If the scalea are still white still got a while to go with the med.
Is he resting for long periods as that's not a good sign.

Interpet fungus meds say to redose after 7 days... I put them in on Monday night. Yeah, Darth is resting all the time except for when he swims up for air. Splodge is resting more than usual but is still swimming round.

Are you still using the anti internal bacteria med aswell.
That anti fungus and finrot med not that good on columnaris.
In the uk anti internal bacteria med by interpet and pimafix.
Or myxazin and pimafix.

No i didn't think I could use them together. can I add the anti bacterial now on top of the anti fungus i already added? Or do i need to water change to remove the anti fungus?
I don't have any pimafix but I do hav some methelyne blue - is that any good? can that be used with anti internal bacteria?

No you can't mix them together.
You would have to do a 30% water change and run some black carbon for aday.
I wouldn't bother with the methylene blue as some brands can wipe the benefical bacteria out in the filter.

OK. Should I do a water change then and then go back to anti internal then? I am using a sponge filter, how do i run carbon? Can I put a bit in a bit of stockings and position it by the bubbles that come out of the filter?

I would change med as it dosn't sound like the anti finrot and fungus med doing much.
Good Luck.
