Have I Overstocked?

Well one of my fish died today and not too sure why..

I have a 55-60 ltr tank which is approx 15-16 US gallon. I have:

1 female fighter fish
4 guppys
2 platys
3 mollies

Realisticly is that over stocked or just right? Or could i even fit another in there?

With those fish your filtration is more of an issue, meaning they shouldnt bother each other its your filters ability to keep the water clean, and your water changes etc. But yeh as person above said what are the sex's? should have a good female to male ratio else the females will be pestered alot. How long did you have the fish that died? N btw i wouldnt say thats overstocked.

Im honestly not too sure what my filter is.. I mean i got the whole tank off ebay for £26 including everything. Here's a pic if you know what it is:

This is the first question.
You need to give us more info on the tank.How long is it working.
Did you do the cycle?
water testing results?
Any sympthoms from your fish?

Because you do have some fish there but i've seen much worse.there may be another reason.

Only had the tank one 2 weeks. No it wasn't properly cycled, but due to me getting it "used" i didnt think i needed to cycle it for the full 6 weeks or however long it takes.

Weird thing i ever snce i got them fish i always thought that would be the one that would die, it was a very small platy and it was alwys in hiding, all the other fish seem as healthy as anything and swim about like maniacs.

Fighter fish is a bit of a hider.. Though i think thats in their nature?

Should i do a bigger water change or anything sionce that fish died?

definately do a water change when you get any dead fish.

the fighter may be hiding if the current is strong, they do better with very little current

Hi there, personally i would rehome the Mollies as they can get quite big. This will also aleviate any worries about tank stocking. You would be fine with your fighter, 4 Guppies and 2 Platies. If you do rehome the Mollies then get another female Platy to reduce the stress the one you already have will be suffering from the constant attention of the male.
