Hey everyone! My name is Leah & my snails name is Harold, he has a cleft shell and it's pretty serious. (I bought him like this btw) I was wondering if there's anything I can do for this little guy. He also cannot fully retract into his shell because it's so severe.

What I'm doing right now is just making sure the pH is good, and the water parameters are good on top of giving him as much calcium as he wants. I add calcium rich food and add calcium to the water. He's extremely friendly I'd hate to see this be the reason he dies some day.

There is nothing I can think of that will help that cleft. Almost looks like he was dropped and the shell was damaged, but he otherwise lived and is OK. The shell only grows on the leading edge (at least normally) and it appears that the cleft has closed on the leading edge. If you don't introduce something that will attack the poor guy through the wound he should be able to live out his normal life. Seen similar issues on my wife's terrestrial snails.
