I noticed my guppy had a swollen belly and on closer look at the front thereā€™s is a yellow/white patch on it. Anyone know what this is and how I can help him.

might have eaten a lot and hasn't pooped in a day

is it still eating well and pooping?

I havenā€™t seen him pooping, but he is eating well. It has been swollen like that for a few days, I fed him some peas to see if that helps but hasnā€™t made a difference

Gotta agree with Colin over here...

Would that also explain the mark on his belly? Look like a sore up close, or an ulcer with a yellowish colour to it
Your photo is a bit unclear to make a better statement. Would you be willing to make a more clear photo of him?

Here are some more, trying to get clearer photos but hard to focus on the swollen part. It looks yellowish with some red around the outside.

I have to change my former reply. You are able to see that his scales on his chest are open. I don't think it's dropsy because the rest of the scales look just fine. But if there's something internal going on, the scales can open up again, for the skin stretches too much. I don't think is bloated either. Especially, because the yellow-orange patch doesn't explain that. This guy has an internal problem. Maybe an internal prolapse.

The fish is doing a stringy white poop in a couple of the pictures. That is either worms, an internal protozoan or internal bacterial infection.

If the fish is eating well then it's worms.
If the fish is only eating a little bit, then it's probably an internal protozoan infection.
If the fish isn't eating, it's an internal bacterial infection.

If the fish has a lot of worms in its intestine, that could explain the fat belly.

The following link has more information about stringy white poop and treatign fish with worms.

Your eyes are better than mine, I've noticed. My eyes didn't caught that stringy white poop. But have you also noticed that on his belly, he's got some open scales?

Thanks for the replies guys, I went to the aquarist to get something to treat him, when they saw the pictures they also thought it was some parasite and that it was too late and it was growing very fast, unfortunately he passed away last night
