Well i had a great weekend at the British Livebearer Association

Was a fantastic weekend with many 100's of photo's and video's, i clocked over 4gb of stuff on my laptop. While i have already posted photo's on the forums i though it would be good to post all the photo's here so far. This is just a small selection and I may add to it as i edit the video over the next week or so.

Ok finished editing the new BLA Show Report

AWESOME!! What do you need to do to compete in a guppy show? Do you need to be able to trace your guppy's ancestors or something?

You need to learn the judging rules so that you can select one of your own guppies that will have a chance. Guppy breeding and showing is very competitive, unlike showing wild type fish. In wild type fish, you try to get the best example of a species that is in robust good health. It is almost too simple if you have decent stock and are willing to do the work to optimize feedings, water changes, etc. A show guppy will never be found in a pet shop and can be hard to find anywhere else. Guppy breeding is a very distinct and separate hobby.

Thanks! That helps.

What are they even judged on? Not to be mean or make myself out to be a "know it all" cause im not, but the guppies at an Aquarium shop in London near me look a million times better then these....
These look bad quality..I should enter MY own guppies into the convention :p

I am not a guppy enthusiast so I cannot help you much AdrianJames. If you want to go into the show arena, you are far beyond my experiences in simple things like guppies. I attended a recent ALA convention and found that a qualified guppy judge had no idea why we, the ALA members, were even bothering to show our wild type fish. We had shown fish that conformed to the ideal in terms of the wild type fish itself, but his idea of a fish worth showing was based solely on guppy show standards. His idea was that anything shown to conform to ideals of wild fish was a simple waste of his time as a qualified guppy judge. A guppy that can compete in a show is a specialist's fish, not something those of us into wild types would ever see. It is an entirely separate hobby to the one that I enjoy.
