Guppy Babies!

If you have some frozen baby brine shrimp or frozen daphnia, I keep both on hand most of the time, adding a bit of those to the mix will give the fry a nice protein boost and they will love the stuff. Another option is to start breeding brine shrimp using one of those little kits they make for that (eggs and salt in small amounts). BBS are easy to hatch and are reputed, in some circles, to be ideal fry food. I hate to rely on a single food for any fish so I always mix things up.

I was thinking of setting this up, then I found out it was a little more difficult than chucking an air-stone and some brine eggs in a bucket. It seemed almost too much work to be worth it, but if you know of any simple DIY set-ups, feel free to share.

It is not much harder than that although people will make out that it is. The refinements people use are intended to make harvesting the resulting BBS a bit easier. I use a tool made specifically for that purpose. It uses bubbles from an air pump and the BBS breeder connects directly to the tank. I took this picture about 2 days after I set mine up. You can see the fish gathered around the grid where the BBS come out into the tank. They thought it was a great idea.

Did you make that? Looks like a great design! :good: What I do is I cut up two one liter soda bottles the very bottom of one and the top half of the other then stick the one without a bottom upside down into the bottom of the right side up one then I use a salt and baking soda in combo with brine eggs with an air pump and after 24-36 hours under a lamp they've hatched. I use a straw to harvest but...
