Guppies And Danios?

Ok well first off I wasn't sure whether this should be in Cyprinids, Characins and Atherinids or live bearers so I just put it here. Anyway at the moment I have a 20 gallon long with 5 zebra danios and want to add some guppys,platys,or some other live bearer to it. Ive heard that it's not wise to put danios with guppys as they may nip at their fins and such. Would they be fine with platys or perhaps a pair of swordtails?

gupies are a no as they will get nipped but sword tails are a yes as long as males are outnumbered by females

Platies and danios are fine, since they both require relatively cool water. Guppies, fancy guppies at least, do best when kept quite warm, around 28 C seems to minimise problems with finrot and fungus. Platies and danios are best kept at 22-24 C, which is also ideal for other cool-water tropicals like neons, Corydoras and so on.

Hmm my aquarium is at 78 degrees lol and thats on the lowest setting x_x Also out of platys and swordtails which one is hardier.

Clearly your heater is too big for the tank.

Platies and Swordtails have different environmental requirements, so neither is "hardier" if kept in the wrong tank. Platies come from ditches and ponds and so prefer slow water currents, whereas Swordtails live in fast-flowing streams and need bigger tanks with strong water currents. Swordtails are best kept in tanks upwards of 150 litres with at least 80 cm of swimming space across the front of the tank.

well it seems ill be going with sword tails seeing as my tank has a lot of current ill also look for a smaller heater
