Hi everyone

I'm safe, well and have settled into my new home for 4 months here in the Falkland Islands. The weather is very odd; sunshine one minute, snow the next and pretty much windy all the time.

I have 40 minutes internet access a day, sometimes more so I should be able to be fairly active.

I've just started writing my articles for PFK. The PFK editor has given me the go-ahead to submit 3 x 2500 word articles so I"m pretty excited. They'll concentrate on the high-tech, new school approach to planted tanks and will, in my opinion, give a more appropriate and relevant view of the hobby than the current series that is being published.

What is also exciting is that I'm planning a whole new set up. Faced with the choice of either upgrading my currently empty Juwel Rio 125 or going the whole hog and buying a new tank - I want the latter.

I feel that my abilities now both technically and aquascaping wise do justify a bigger, better set up so with this in mind this is what I"m currently thinking. Subject to change a million and one time before I get enough cash together.

90L x 45W x 60cm H (36x18x24) all glass, braceless, rimless high-clarity German glass (ADA stock) - 255 Litre, 67 US Gallon

Lighting - Giesmann Infinity 1 x 150W Metal Halide , 4 x 24W T5

Filter - Eheim 2028 Pro II, Hydor 300W in-line heater, ADA lily pipe and inlet

CO2 - 2Kg cylinder, ADA Beetle Pollen 40

Substrate - ADA Aqua Soil, ADA Bright Sand

Open top, ADA Style Nature Aquarium

Gotta dash, 40 mins. is up!

Good to hear from you!

Congratulations on the PFK project. Sounds fascinating. Much as I enjoy reading fishkeeping magazines, there's definitely a gap between the regular writers and the "new wave" in fishkeeping. It's nice to see the editors taking note of this and encouraging new writers.

Cheers,

Neale

Look forward to reading them.

Wow a pritty impresive setup, costly as well, i take it there's a few nights in on the cards for you to pay for it, not to mention all the sweet talking your going to have to do to clear it with the missis

I look forward in seeing the progress

sounds like here, brilliant sunshine one minute, rain and snow the next and windy 24 hours a day!!

congrats on the PFK thing, i entered the tetra review panle competition in last months and have been chosen to be on it!!!

Glad to hear you're safe and well :) Looking forward to the PFK articles and seeing the new tank, you certainly know how to spend money! Sounds like it'll be one hell of a tank.

Keep us posted

Sam

Thanks everyone.

I'll do my best with the articles, who know's where it may lead?

On the new tank - yes, very expensive but worth every penny in my eyes.

Alright, you made it safe :) Nice work.

Glad to hear that you got there safe , but at least the weather will remind you of old blighty :D good luck with the articles on EI and the sorts . The new tank sounds tasty both in cost and coolness and would be awsome once set-up . All the best though mate :good:

Glad you had a safe trip and I look forward to reading those articles. :)

I'm glad you had a safe trip. I look forward to your PFK articles, I subscribe to their website, but hopefully they will post your articles. If not, I'm sure you'll find some way to get them posted here so everybody can see.

I like the idea of your new setup, it sounds very impressive and very expensive.
