I saw this and thought gravid, but then that little

she is a Cochus blue tetra Boehlkea fredcochui and I have no plans, space etc to raise any fry. I just need my mind putting at ease.

hi
i dont really know......... but we used to have 12 neons & around 7 of them looked like that for ages & ages ( & it seemed to be the females that ended up like that for some reason - maybe some weird neon gynae disease) & it started about 6 months after we got them . no other symptoms & still eating, bickering, swimming around as normal looking quite happy despite the huge & i mean huge bellies. they then eventually ended up dying...........i tried treating them for internal parasites & everything else i thought it could possibly be to no avail .
sorry to be so negative & i hope this is nots what is wrong with your fish but it just looks so so similar to what our neons looked like. i'll have a rummage i know ive got a pic on a disc somewhere where one of our neons has a very similar appearance to your fish. i actually posted it on another forum before i discovered this forum as i was worried .the rest of our neons except our survivor who is now bossman of our cardinals all sadly succumbed to ntd which is why we still have one single neon ( just dont want to see any others die of a horrible disease) but the bloated ones never showed ntd symptoms
hopefully its not what ours had.

hi ive pm'd you with a place you can see the pics of my fat neons....i hope your fish is going to be ok, i know our fat ones seemed to live quite a happy life for a long time in their bloated state right up till the end.
sorry i meant that to sound reassuring & it b*** doesnt. what i meant was they never looked uncomfortable or as if they were in any pain when they were like that.

Thanks milly, I'll check it out

yes and so is she, just huge thats all.

I guess I've stumpped all the experts on this forum :p

not that it helps in any way but i've got 3 glowlights that look exactly the same (even after not being fed for 2 days). i'm guessing they graze on algae/plant matter and just stuff them selves as i haven's had any babies yet and theyve been like that for months.
