right, ive looked at all the old posts on here and i have only one question! will the fish i already have be okay while the sand settles?! i have spoken to the guy who owns my lfs and he has been extremely helpful and im pretty clear on what i need to do and the cost of using a fine gravel or going for the cheaper alternative, sand. but i forgot to ask him about the fish! :X basically, i understand that after rinsing the gravel etc. the water will be slightly cloudy once the tank has been set up again, would the rogue sand particles be damaging to the fish at all because i have a fairly strong current!?? this may be a silly question but i just wanted to be sure!

many thanks!!

Hi, your fish will be completly fine mate. I did the change my slef and left teh fish in while took the gravel out and put the sand in...Just make sure that a hiding place at one end of teh tank while you empty one side then when you have done taht put the cave th other side while you empty the side thats left. Once you have done that you can then put the sand in BUT just make sure that you turn the filter(s) off or else it will knacker teh rotary's.

Good Luck and you will be glad once you have done it as it looks a hell of a lot better plus its better for the fish to feed on.
