Gourami And Archer Related?

what kind of fish are archers, at least in thei forum, would they be oddballs? or are they anabatoids?

Infact they aren't even in the same sub - order. Which is even higher up the classification line. Just cause they are the same shape, doesn't make them related.

More than likely all it means is that they live in similar conditions. Eg, some fish catch food from the surface so have upturned mouthes, doesn't mean they're all related, just that they have a similar lifestyle.

To Mr130gallon, no archers are not Anabantoids

Lol...she's also doing a course called 'Genetics'
And specifically doing a module on Zoology at the mo. But just to point out...all I did was google it. Wikipedia has all the information you could need when you're looking up relationships between 'common' animals.
General rule of thumb, if they aren't in the same family then they aren't related, this applies even more so the further up you go through the family tree. Eg. If they are in a different 'order' you can probabaly say 99% of the time they aren't even slightly related.
