Got My New Cam!

I like the first two pics in the last post. Someday I will have a DSLR till then I love my compact :D.

The top two are my fav too! Best pics I have took using the cam so far!

Your cam isn't a DSLR? WOW!

+1 to the top 2! What equipment did you use for them? Filters etc?

Nothing at all. I just used my 75mm-300mm zoom lens and i had a UV filter on. Just to protect the lens from scratches really!

IDK how many times I've told you that XD. My Panasonic FZ28 does not fall under DSLR and I've never even used a DSLR before. I can pick the right settings to get pictures, but when it comes to lens specs and stuff I know nothing. Hopefully I will learn some of that stuff with the free old 35mm camera I was given during this summer.

No the panasonic FZ28 is my digital camera, its the one I shot 95% of my flickr photos with and stuff. The few that were not shot with it were shot with a much older Canon S1 IS and those ones technically should be in there... The one my dad gave me is a 35mm film camera, a Canon T70 with 2 lenses, a filter, and some other things. I will try it out in summer. Its a SLR(non-digital) manual focusing, made in 1984  I don't shoot a lot in the winter. You know I prefer nature and its not easy when its been hitting -15F outside the last week or so. Its hard enough with image stabilizing and auto focus.

Best way to learn photography IMO is to take pictures with a goal in mind. Don't aim for amazing pictures in the beginning. Like set out with your camera on a longer exposure and mess with all the other setting except that one and see what you get. Thats at least is how I learned how to use my camera mainly some reading and trial and error. Figure out what does what and how they effect each other. The camera is a tool and when you figure it out you can capture things the eyes can not. I took this pic tonight using a technique a friend showed me. Its nothing really unusual, just a different perspective I never would of thought of. I normally go out and find my subjects, not make them lol. Certainly not something I am use to shooting :fun: . I look forward to seeing some more pictures from you.

Thats awesome. A longer exposure i'm guessing with some moving lights. Was the exposure around 2secs? Did you use a wide aperture? Like f/5.6 with it being pretty dark. (i'm most probs wrong but just trying to get the concept of how things are done without looking at the EXIF data.)

Yeah that was kinda the idea. That one was shot with F/8 and 40 second exposure. Anything from 20" to 50" was working for me though depending on the room lighting.

I don't have a namvy pamvy SLR camera either and I get nicer photos (in my opinion) than my boyfriends brother with his editing and DSLR...However panasonic are brilliant little cameras (I have an old one too :))

Bamburgh always has stunning views. If you go up on the rocks near the white building kinda at the end of the beach in front of the castle you get fantastic photos :).
