Gorami Male Or Female?

i have a few dwarf goramies how can i tell if they are male or female because im planning on breeding them? and how can i tell if 1 is pregnant because one of them has a swollen belly and i dunnot no if its sick or what..

Hi Im new to the fish world. But I found some info for you on the net..

Males are slightly larger than the females and have a bright orange-red body with turquoise blue vertical stripes that extend into the fins. The dorsal fin of the male is pointed in contrast to the rounded dorsal of the female. Females remain a duller silvery blue-gray color, never achieving the brilling colors of the male. Several color hybrids exist, including Blue/Powder Blue), Neon, Rainbow, and Red/Blushing.

Probably a little late for a reply, but I haven't been here for a while so oh well

Gouramies don't get pregnant as they are egg-layers not livebearers like guppies or platies. They can be full of eggs (gravid) but bloating is more likely a sign of constipation or dropsy. Constipation is an easy problem to solve by fasting and feeding green peas (deshelled) or daphnia afterwards for a few days. Dropsy is a symptom, often signalling the presence of an internal bacterial infection as it is the consequence of organ failure and subsequent fluid build-up. If your fish has a pineconing of the scales and is not eating, this might be the problem.

As was said, males are larger than females. They also tend to have larger and more 'bulbous' dorsal and anal fins. Color-wise, males are the ones with it and females are the ones without it

As dwarf gouramies come in several color morphs, it's not possible to be very specific. But females are generally silver or brownish. You are most likely to have males as many LFSs won't sell females at all.
