Gone Down Hill Again

lol all my boys HATE when i bring out they camera, they dart around and flare like crazy

picking up some epson salt on the way home from my exam, will then move him back to the hospital tank, would it be best to do a dip or add it to tank, either way how much?

Just wanted to give you an update on the epsom salt soak:

I dissolved a tsp in a gallon of treated water and then I put him in a critter keeper with an airstone. I let him stay in the bath for about 20-25 min. It did help. He is still bloated, but not as much, and he did poo some. I may do it again today. I will see how he is doing when I get home.

How is Blaze?

I'm sorry, I just checked your thread.

Yes, epsom salt is used to help draw off swelling (water) just like soaking a swollen ankle to draw off the swelling. Just what the pharmacies sell. No special grade.

On the other hand salt draws water in and should not be used in cases of swelling as it can make it worse.

This is the common wisdom and used by betta hobbyist of vast experience, such as wuv and Synirr and RandomWiktor.

well i was unable to get any salt and working all weekend so hopefully he'll hold on until monday, he is in more control again just about to give him some pea, hope he can hang in there until monday.

Thanks everyone for all your help, support and well wishes for my lil guy :good:

well he is doing better today, gave him a lil flake today because i couldn't bare to starve him any longer and he was starting to dislike the peas

thats good to hear, hes been ill along time now :(

i know and to make it worse i go on holiday for 2 weeks leaving this Friday, got someone coming round every 3rd day to feed everyone will make sure i tell them to only feed him a little and iff he gets worse to give him peas

Lil guy is doing much better today, swimming around as usual again, will clean him out tomorrow and finally he can have a full tank again, now i guess we'll just have to hope it doesn't happen again, it has been 16 days and he has been going up and down, hopefully now he is past the bad bits and is on the road to fully recover :good:

the news is getting better everyday, lets hope it stays that way :good:
