If they are darting around in new tank with new surroundings it sound like stress. Lower the lights or turn off the tank lights and give them some time. Put a background picture or just black paper on the back of the tank. Lower the lights in the room. Make sure there are plenty of hiding places.

AS far as the tank is concerned it does not sound like it is cycled. Get some fast growing plants like hornwort, moneywort, anacharis and water sprite that you can plant or let float or some frog bite. Suggest you add some tetra SafeStart Plus to jump start your cycle is case their is not enough good bacteria in the filter material.

i do have more old filter media that I can put in the tank should I put it in there

They are just going through the sand picking it up and back out again, they have plenty of hiding spots and I’ve turned the tank lights off, they are staying near the bottom, is that normal for them in a new tank, also the ph in this tank is up 0.2 from their last tank is that enough to make a difference

One goldfish has fin rot unfortunately so if you could give any tips on that then thanks, I have some medication and the water is clean in the new tank with plenty of cycled media now

Plenty of water changes for finrot or aquarium salt.

They're probably just stressed from the transportation.
. Clean water and a little aquarium salt for fins/tails. Melafix works on goldies also. It’s normal for goldfish to lie on bottom some but not all day. They’re pretty hardy and a slight PH fluctuation shouldn’t matter. They are flashing against things are they?

thanks, they have been a lot more active than before, and they have been flashing is that important??

Just stress. Give them time. Do a water change.

Does the tank have a background? If not, add one. It makes fish seem more secure.
