well, as most of you will know goldfish and piranahs along with other fish don't seen in the 'visible' spectrum of light as humans do but see towards the red end of the 'visible' spectrum and into the infra reds. Has anyone used infra red from things like remotes of mobile phones to train fish to do something for food or anything.

I was just wondering because one of my lecturers today was talking about vision and IR vision and i though of here lol.

Ah, that would explain why when trying to take photos with the flash off the fish dart away as the camera focuses. Cameras when on autofocus emit a red light for the sensor to focus on

lol yeah that would explain it and thats why I use a Violet autofocus (other end of the spectrum)

no one trained their fish then????

hmm I cant ever remember seeing anywhere that fish see in the IR spectrum. As far as I know most fish see light in pretty much the same light spectrum as wel do. There has been some research done that shows that some fish are capable of seeing UV light but never seen abything about IR.

yeah its not all fish that are the same i only know of piranah and goldsifh that can see IR. goldfish can see ir and uv. The other things i was looking at was the 4 eyed fish, do they exist in captivity?
