Give Me A Bit Of Help?

Hey, everybody,

I just sold a bunch of my fancy guppies, so now I have some wide open spaces in a couple tanks. I picked up 9 baby tiger barbs (is there ANYthing cuter??) and a couple of apple snails, and they're spending the next couple of weeks in a quarantine tank. Good thing, because there were also 3 longfin pepper cories with that group, and 2 days after getting them they're now dead.

They were basically a rescue, but I'm still upset by it.

Anyway, please take a look at my sig at the fish I have and where, and could you make some suggestions about who should go where? The only fish that isn't very docile is the male molly, and I'm looking to find him an appropriate new home.

My husband also has two tanks: 1 20g with 11 albino cories and 10 male endlers, and a 55g with 2 firemouth cichlids, 2 jack dempseys (all these are females), a green sunfish, a pictus cat and a BN. One each of the firemouth and JD are going to a new home soon.

Any ideas? Please?? I have live plants in all the tanks. I just need some guidance here!

I'm not sure what to suggest really; except to say, I wouldn't want tiger barbs in a tank with corydoras.

I tried it, and even though I've 20 tigers and they actually didn't hurt the cories, they were just too boisterous and the cories didn't like coming out, except to eat; I had to separate them after only a week or two.

Tiger Barbs as crackers, some of the most active fish i have ever owned. They also eat every bit of food put in the tank so everything else wasn't getting their share.

Are you sure the Firemouths are both girls?

I love the barbs, and at this point they're only 3/4" long! I was going to ask if anyone thought I should feed them more than 2x a day.

Yes, the firemouths are both girls. At least that's what my hubby tells me.

LOL! Tiger Barbs are indeed very nice fish if kept with the correct tank mates.

I think in your situation I'd put all the cories in the 28g and put the barbs (with reservations) with the other known potential nippers; the serpae and black skirts, in the 55g, with the option of adding to those shoals a bit if needs be.

The guppies will have to stay; they can't go with the barbs; just too risky.
