Hello! I just bought a bunch of Ghost-Shrimp, one of them was "pregnant". All I knew was to put er seperate and when the Babys hatched to take out the Mom! So I asked yesterday about the same question but in the wrong Forum! I wanted to know, how to take care of a "pregnant" Shrimp to make it as cozy for her as possible! Well I found her dead this morning :byebye: I'm so sad, I don't know what I've done wrong!

What conditions are best for them if I want to breed them! I read that you simply just put 5 oder 6 of them seperate and wait for them to breed! but I don't know more!

are you sure you found her dead? it could have been her molting and that was her old "skin". as for breeding them, good luck. i've heard its difficult and my pregnant ghost shrimp would always lose the eggs and that was it. i never saw any sign of the babies.

I also think they need hardish water to breed, and just to live as well I guess, because this makes it easier for them to molt? I'm not really sure of the details, but I know it has something to do with their shell...

Hope that website helped. I've also read other reports indicating it will be really hard to raise the fry as they need very specific food. Plus they're very small they go thru' most nets...

Some good info on breeding here, including personal experiences from a few breeders.

Thank you so much for those great links! Now the only thing I didn't find out was- how many Ghost-Shrimps are ok to have in a 2 Gallon -Tank with one Goldfish!?
