Getting New Tank For First Betta

hehe gale yeah i know i had it hung wrong, it was just for the pic! i had the filter sat in the tank for storage and didnt feel like pulling the cord out too:) thats what i thought too but on the bottom of the filter it says tetra... i figured i would put in the aquaclear medis though. so does sponge then ceramic then another sponge sound ok or sponge, sponge, ceramic sound better?

edit: what can i use to make a lid for the filter? it didnt come with one and im not sure what to do.

A Lid is not really needed if you leave about a 2 inch gap from the top. Else you can make a tank lid with either PersPex glass with some wholes.

I would use Craft Mesh, the ones you can uses for Crotchet etc. They are cheaper and will work well.

:good:

crft mesh like what you divide a tank with? that will at least keep out large debris right? thats why i was going to make a lid for it. we have a lot of bugs where i live and i dont want them falling into the filter and dying.

for dividers, does it matter if the craft mesh is the stiff kind or the regular kind the is flewible? the stiff kind only comes in clear at my craft store.

How clear is clear, are you planning on keeping males?

If bettas have prolonged stress they can easily die. So two males that constanly see each other through the dividers is not really ideal.

It will be beneficial to plant it heavily in and out of the dividers so there more of a distraction.

=]

hmmm, they look like the ones in haych's divided tank. clear but not see through. they will be able to see like a shadow/outline of their neighbor. but i do plan on getting a lot of silk plants for them and make a cave. oh and yes im planning on having two males.

edit: just noticed in an earlier reply, i mean the filter itsself doent have a lid, not the tank, it came with a lid. :)

i will! it has to wait till after the first of the year though, no money for the tank till then due to playing santa! but then i will get started and do a journal!

for those of you who use a black bin bag as a background, how do you attach it to the tank?

Get a the bin bag, dampen IT and the glass with a sponge, it should stick on then just tape the sides with clear tape :)
