Right, added some Purigen and 2 bags of Carbon to the filter. Water is starting to clear up now. They have also fed as normal. Hopefully the fish have weathered the storm...

On the other hand, a friend of mine has located me a nice 72x18x24 tank for a very reasonable price. Fingers crossed that i hear something back tomorrow about it.

Would keep the ellioti, especially if its a girly... May pair up with 2spot! But the Pink Gourami and Common Plec are of no use to me so would have to go. The PG is 20" and the CP 18" so off to wharf I'm affraid. Lol.

Ah cool a pair would be nice in a 6 footer Maybe make it a CA biotope then? A few more cichlids and then things like Swordtails and central Tetras.

very sorry to read that!

I've been looking for some LARGE pieces of wood recently.....the LFS prices scare me off and I was contemplating going out into the woods. However, if apparently treated/prepared wood from a LFS can have this disasterous effect, I think I'll leave the 'wild' stuff well alone!

Spoke to the LFS today and they say they can't see how the wood has caused this to happen. kind of guessed that is what they would say. So, off to see them later on in the week (probably Friday) to see what they have got to say to my face!
