since these are used for that 'new' foot treatment beauty thing I'm not surprised. Some idiot will think they are buying a ready made business without any thought of how to care for them.

One of these places has just sprung up in my town. Dread to think what the fish care is like.

My sister has informed me a local shopping centre has three tanks on the floor,full of these, people are paying buy the bucket load to try them out

so basically they starve them till they eat human skin.....

No, however lets not get into a heated discussion about that,

Whilever their basic care needs are being met I really don't mind the idea of these spa treatment thingys that use the fish. Sad truth is that alot of places don't.

ANYONE can set up with these fish with absolutely no prior knowledge of the fishes needs, or even general fish keeping.

300 for £999 is a good deal, just a shame they will probably be sold to any old jo bloggs that fancies making a quick buck on the current fad of fishy foot spas.

sounds a bit like the supplier my friend used. what decent suplier would supply that number of fish to anyone not in the fishes best interest i was shocked when my work collegue got 200 in batch when she said she'd been told to introduce her fish after a week! she's paid the price all have died wish i had said something to her earlier but she was convinced all would be ok coz her supplier said so funn thing is shes not the only place to have a total loss. at the end of the day she did do research and was reliant on the company she got the tanks and fish from for advice but needless to say they wouldnt help with the first casualties they just told her it was natural to have some losses funy that coz they offered to sell her another 50 so who's out to make a quick buck.she's been devastated by the loss and isnt sure she can cope with the stress of making sure the fish are ok every day, the shop however wants to set up again my husband and i are offering as much advice as pssible but although we've had tropical and marine fish we aren't familiar with this particular fish so regardless of your personal views of the use of them in spa's i would greatly appreciate any advice that can be given for the sake of the fish!!

i wonder how many people would think to check if these people actually have a license to sell these fish?!

To sell them for spa use you have to have a license for spa/medical use and you have to pay a load more to import them. CEFAS seem to be confiscating orders of the fish when there is more than one bag of 20-30. I assume confiscated fish are destroyed? Im not sure on that one...

But one hundred percent, they need a license.
