Ok so Ever since i got to beautiful 7" Red Head Tapajos i have been battling with white spot...

sadly, today i woke up to 2 very large dead fish and the rest are looking a bit 'down', i have been changing water big time, and have been treating for a week...

..The only fish that seems to have it bad now is my little Heros Appendiculatus.

Does this stuff ever go?

so far i have lost a little Oscar, 2 silver dollars, Clown Loach and 2 adult Tapajos....should i just keep doing massive water changes and quit the treating? because it seems to be making things worse.

As you can see from my sig, my stocking has dropped dramatically, i'm going to put myself on a fish buying ban for 6 months and see what I'm left with.

what meds are you using? if youre having trouble knocking it out try king british ws3 full strength whitespot terminator , its about as strong as you can get , i had ich on my sevs and it knocked it out in a few days . use with caution if you have things like sharks or loaches tho ( half dose)

have you increaed temp and airation? both these will help also assuming you are doing extra waterchanges , gibe the gravel a deep vaccing as well each time as the parasite can live in the substrate .

also not teaching you to suck eggs or anything but too many water changes could be a problem too. do a big change then dose , then when next dose is due do a change then dose etc etc , also make sure you have no carbon in your filter

I had this issue with Clown Loaches, provided more aeration and higher temperature for a few weeks and never seen it again.

As much as water changes are vital to health, do they help specifically against White Spot?

yes as they will help to reduce the number of the parasite that are at the free-swimming stage

Thats some bad news. So sorry to hear that you have lost so many fish due to Ich thats not good. What kind of Treatment are you useing? What the temp at? Is this in your BIG tank?

I found that keeping the temp at 30C= 86F will help kill it off once you have it under control. Coppersafe is IMO the best treatment to use. The extra water changes are always good but it sounds like too many might be added extra stress on the fish and that extra stress could put them over the Edge. Try just doing a WC every 3 days or just twice a week.

I hope you got the ich under control. Yes you can get rid of it but it takes time and work. I have had to deal with Ich more times then I would like to admit. I never lost a fish due to ich but I did lose one due to a secondary infection.

As other's have said, have you seeks the wise ones reccomendations<aka wilder>>>

I never knew whitespot was a killer, ive only had a mild case once<thank god>> you are sure that is all it is?

Yeh seems that way guys, had it since i bought some beautiful big Tapajos off some guy from this site, they were funny since i had them, not feeding etc, not that i'm blaming him, could of been underlying, will just stick to the basics, i think i was just venting with the thread title.

Gonna keep hammering 50% water changes this week and see where it gets me.

looks like i've poisoned my tank, lost another 6 fish over night :(

what meds have you been using? have you mixed meds? ie used a different med before a previous 1 is out of the system?

yep, think poisoined everything.

There is nothing with visible white spot still alive now, just doen a 75% water change and cleaned out my filter etc.

gonna do 50% for a few days, see if i get rid of whatever is still in there.

My stockign is pretty low now, shame because the tank looked amazing last week.

all i got left now is..

6 Severums (2 adult, 4 juvi),Ram , blue Acara, Festivum, 5 Colombian Tetras

Oh dear man! That suck big time!

Hope you manage to rescue your remaining stock......
