I have treated first with Pimafix everyday for a week but didn’t help. I tried 2 wk of Lifeguard and two tuffs of fuzzy spots seem to disappear. Didn’t treat for 3 days and two fuzzy spots came back. I’m treating again with Lifeguard and tsp of aquarium salt in a ten gallon hospital tank. Any help would be appreciated. I don’t know what else to try.

Can you attach a photo of the eye infection?

In my experience, eye infections are bacterial, and antibiotics cure them. For eye infections, I use Maracyn or API Erythromycin

Blue eye pleco is a pretty rare strain of pleco. I don't think the post is about an eye problem tho.

If current medication didn't do the job, but was working... I would think of under doses for too short period.

I would go for the maximum strength advised for the fish for twice the time.

There is a real risk of having already a resistant strain or even creating a tougher one.

We need to see the photo of the eye infection first. It is very common for people to call a bacterial infection a fungus due to the appearance.

You are right it is not an eye problem. The spots are behind the head of the pleco. They are white fuzzy round fungus, two spots. When I treat they turn beige. I know she is rare and I need to get this treated. I will try to get a picture.

It looks like ulcers. If your fish develop ulcers, quarantine those affected and perform a high water change of around 40 to 50%.

You can also use treatments such as API Melafix or a stronger medication like Seachem Kanaplex to treat your fish and tank.

I would recommend using the Seachem Kanaplex. Those ulcers look very painful for the pleco!

Thank you, I have Kanaplex which I will try immediately.
