Frustrated, Please Help!

Introduction -

I started fishkeeping around three years ago, most of the duration I had a Juwel Rio 125L until it sprung a leak, I now have a Juwel Rekord 800 which is 110L with a Fluval U3 and Aqua-El Fan-1 plus filters.

I have had most fish available on the market but recently I have just been swapping and changing constantly, can't seem to make my mind up about what I want! This is really beggining to frustrate me as I really enjoy keeping fish but can't decide what I actually want, and it's burning a hole in my pocket!

What do I want?

I'd like to settle down with a nice community of fish and keep some fish with personality too. Is there an ultimate combination? I guess some bottom dwellers, middle and top fish.

Budget isn't a HUGE problem as I intend to just keep the water clean and that's all the money I'll be spending on it (hence this thread being created).

I'm guessing 110L restricts me a fair deal?

for personality, you could try dwarf cichlids like rams or apistos. honey gouramis are good too.

There are a few guidelines for working out stocking levels. Do bear in mind they are only a guide; not any kind of 'rule' and that they relate to the eventual, adult size of the fish.

One inch per gallon is the most often quoted, but I prefer the 'one inch of fish per 12 square inches of surface area'.

That means, if your tank is 12" wide and 36" long, you can have around 36" of fish

I have always had a soft spot for Rainbowfish, in particular Turquiose and Boesmani, most websites say 90-120L tank for them, is this accurate?

I'd have thought bigger rainbows get too big, but you could have dwarf rainbows? However I've never kept them so someone who has might be able to say better than me

I have six juvenile bosemani rainbows in my 100L community and they're doing great, whizzing around displaying to each other all the time. I've read some sites which say they'd prefer a bigger tank but some which say 100L/3ft is fine. So that was actually a pretty useless reply all round by me there! Nice fish though.

Do you plan on keeping the Boesmani's in there for the long haul? I think they are great and really nice looking fish.
