Fruit Tree Branches (Safe For Aquarium?)

Are these woods (apple, pear etc.) safe and usable as decoration/features in an aquatic situation? I remember these woods were used by my father when he kept Budgerigars in his aviary and recommended for use as perches as they were deemed to be non toxic !

Generally fruit woods are regarded as aquarium safe. Assuming the usual provisos of being well dead and dried with the bark off and then soaked.
