Fluval Fx5 -water Change Feature

Hi'

Lookign at the manual it says you use the filter pump to help empty the aquairum , it go's on to say about the 3rd aquastop valve , however i only have two , ive checked with a mate who has one and he said he only has 2 as well .

Do you know if the 3rd one is differernt from the normal ones? also do you just connect a fluval pipe to it or can you use normal hose pipe? ive only seen the fluval pipe at 3m and i need around 10m.

look at base of filter you should see what looks like a tap with a cap

can you see the tap at bottom of this picture

you screw of the end and get a length of tube that will fit over the tap,then tighten it back up over the tube,however i have never used this, i just use the third tap that comes with the filter ..where you remove in and outtake pipes then run for 1minute til filter empty then clean filter, i tried it once but where mines on the floor it did not want to do much, so couldnt be bothered to try again, however i found my syphon tube fits it perfect,

i tried that bit at the bottom but well tbh it was pointless so went back to the python , from what i was reading though you can get another valve for the top , put in out the outlet and leave the filter running so that it use's the filter as a pump if you know what i mean ?

yes when you buy them they come with three aqua stop valves...obviously one for the intake and one for the outtake and a spare which is ment for the reason.....as said i turn off intake followed by outtake<in that order,turn off plug after..then remove both of the aqua valves, then connect the third aqua stop valve with a length of hosing,my length is about 1metre which i picked up from lfs for a couple of quid...i had to place the end in boiling water so to stretch pipe over the small pipe section, then once i squeezed it over and all way to end i ran it under cold tap...perfect, then you connect to outtake section and open valve into a bucket and turn on, however its only for 1minute to empty the filter, 8litres out!!! i will look at the dvd and see what else they say you can do
