I had the 34L 1.0 for just over 2 years in use. The 2.0 is a much improved model from what I’ve seen. I made a couple of upgrades to my tank at the time specifically a more powerful Eheim pump and a sponge guard on the inlet vents. It seems the new model includes much more than the older one now which is good to see. If you do opt for it, I recommend looking at Etsy as many sellers have 3D printed addons / parts that help a lot. The Flex is probably one of the most customisable tank sets out there.

Hi, newbie as well, just filled my new flex today
I like it, my only gripe would be the lights. They are certainly up to the job, but not as adjustable as the blurb says
No timer
Can not run the red, blue, green and white together, its white and one colour, but you can adjust both of these 2, but unless you are a professional basketball player, or at least 7 ft tall, means getting up and standing in front of the tank, holding the remote above your head, to make any adjustments, can be a pain
But as i say, it is a highly rated light in this price range, and it is supposed to be easy to upgrade to s 12w aquasky if this really , really annoys you, like it does me
But i do like the the tank alot

I am still dithering. I had more or less decided to go for it when I saw a review which was very negative, in particular the reviewer claimed the pump was very noisy and the filter compartment difficult to clean out. He also did not like the light unit. I have a Start50 running at the moment so I can take my time deciding. I would be interested to hear your feelings on the tank over the coming weeks.

Yh, no problem
The pump is ok noise wise, not the best but not the worse either. You can say watch tv in the same room , and i have made no attempts to make it quieter
The small back compartments are par for the course on a tank of this size, but dont forsee any problems cleaning wise.
The filter is easy to remove, as is the pump and heater, for any cleaning, and you could easily get a syphon pipe in there to get any build up off the bottom, and you could easily get one of those algea scrubbing sponges , the ones on a handle, in there to give a scrub, but not sure why you would need to do this
The compartments are small, but everything is easily accessible
As for the lights,,how you control them and pretty limited options are annoying, but they seem to do an excellent job.
Myself, i would be perfectly happy if they did away with that remote, the colour cycle, the storm and cloudy day for a simple timer, or a sunrise /set function
Will know more about how good they are over the next few weeks, im soaking my java wood in there, and its releasing tannins, so at the moment, its like a black water tank, so see how they do

Ok, aftera week, am liking this tank, the filteration system seems to work fine and the lights seem to do the job.
But that lid has got to go
Along with the reciever for the remote being at the back of the lid, the improvements to stop condensation running down the back of the tank when you open the lid dont really do the job.
Im sure its better than the previous model, but some still runs down the back of the tank
If your tank is up against a wall, going to be difficult to dry, and this moisture will build up over time
Sure, some kitchen roll, and a quick wipe before you you fully open the lid would solve this
But ive decided to go topless, and not for the first time, i'd like to add

The flex will always have its pro's and cons. I found it to be a great starter tank and a tank that could be heavily modified later on. Alex from World of Whasian did a great job adding in better lighting and an access hole for CO2 injection.
I LOVE my 15 gallon Fluval Flex (57 liter). I used it for various freshwater configurations for several years, and now I've turned it into a little reef tank. The filter has always worked well for me- I've seen people online bash it, but I have never had a problem with it. Just clean the motor every now and then and squeeze out the sponge in removed tank water every few water changes and you're good to go. I also used the first chamber to add some calcium- just added some Rubble Zone pieces in it- I was keeping shrimp and our water is super soft. Good luck with it- I think you'll love it!
True on the light, though- there is no timer. I bought a thing on Amazon that made it easy to set up a timer, so it's not a big deal.

Agree - I got an inexpensive Nicrew branded lighting controller for mine. No mods needed, it was pretty much plug and play and the daily schedule includes ramp up and down. IIRC I use 5 or 6 different intensities through the day and it just worked. I have long since lost the gimmicky remote control that it shipped with.
