Fluval 406

Anyone own 1 of these range of fluval?
just want to know how silent they are

to the best of my knowledge there is no such thing as a fluval 406 unless it's VERY new.. i have several 405's however and they are VERY quiet. i had a fluval 405 on my 110 gallon in my bedroom for 3 years, only time i heard a sound was when the evaporation brought the level down to the point that i got waterfall noises.. i only had a couple fish in the tank, so i waited till it needed to be refilled to do water changes, never had more than 10 ppm nitrates.

i'm a big fluval fan, i like the 405s and i REALLY like the FX5.

new fluval range we got in at work, they have a new quieter motor apprently taken over the 5 range. would get a fx5 but carnt fit it in the cabinet

james, i just ran into the same thing.. i bought a used 210 gallon aquarium and the stand had 4 - 12" wide doors. i took off the doors, put in 4 - 2x4x24" braces in next to where the doors hinges were and knocked out the panel between the doors so now i have a mostly open cabinette.

as soon as i get it cleaned up i'll take pics and post them. i may put a light curtain over the holes.. i'm still debating.

I have to say i am really annoyed because the new 06 range of fluval filters are pretty good, i dismantled one and played with it and it is 10x more sturdy than the 05 range, they have a new well cover that holds the impeller in place that has been redesigned to make it quieter! Same with new primer, better clips and seals and pipework

I sold 3 206 filters the day they came in they will be all over the place soon.
