Hi guys my fluval 206 is leaking. Its leaking just under where cable is. Ive checked the O ring but it does seem to be damaged. I have a new one. Should i swap them.over?

How often do you need to change the clamps on these filters. The reason i ask is that when i close both clamps on the lid, it doesnt seem to pull the lid down tightly closed.
Suggestiong please guys.

Thanks in advance.

I'd replace O ring ASAP before you experience any catastrophic failure, O rings can perish if Vaseline or petroleum based lubes are used on them + they can easily be nicked if the lid isn't seated accurately before refitting, also check for any deformities around the mating surfaces. the loose play on the clamps  isn't an issue as both my 206 and 306 are like that and mine don't leak

Ok thankyou. I put a new oring on and so far so good. No leaks. I put some food grade silicone grease on the new ring. I heard vaseline/petroleum jelly was bad for it.
Thanks for your help. I was really panicking. I had water everywhere.
