Hi All,

So I setup this filter about a week ago, had it running no problems, I put one of the packs of Carbon in as I had tannins in the tank, it seems a lot better now so i'm tempted to take it out soon, probably when I remove my old filter media out of the filter from my other filter.

My question is, what can I replace this tray full of carbon with that's going to help the tank out?

I have the default sponges + some from my old media at the moment to not cause a cycle, aswell as two trays of the circular white bio pieces (not sure what they are called).

Any recommendations? I see you can get a whole range of medias for the fluval 20x range.

Just use any regular sponge. You can use so much stuff, even gravel. Bog standard gravel. You could use a shower scrub scrunchy, anything that allows water to pass through but provides space for bacteria to colognise. Within reason, and don't use stuff that can give of pullutants. If you don't want to DIY just got to a LFS and ask for filter wool, you can stuff some of that in
