So have a bottle of Flourish Excel and want to start using it on my 55 gallon. My only problem is I have corkscrew vals, and I don't want to kill them. I've heard of people being able to acclimate them to the stuff, and would love if someone whose done it could tell me how. What should my dosage schedule be, how much? Any other plants that disagree with excelm?

I have done it but with easycarbo not excel but basically the same stuff.
How I did it was just dose one third of the recommended dose daily for one week.
Then dose two thirds recommended dosage everyday on second week
Then dose full recommended dosage everday from then on:)

Never had any melting doing it this way with any plant

flourish excel from what i have herd will melt vallis, not in week concentration but probably in the high, if you do it like SLIM suggest i guess it could work never tried it my self, i am dosing liquid co2 from AE with vallis so far no melting in my tank but i am watching them closely as they are one of my fav plants :)

From what i understand, if vallis does melt it doesnt die it will grow back and will be adapted to the carbon.
But slow introduction can prevent the melting stage

Thanks y'all! I think I'll start doing it like you did SLIM, see how they do.
Does anyone know the dosage amount for a five gallon?

Dosed Excel (the same thing) in many tanks for years. I also kept corkscrews in a couple. They never did nearly as well when given Excel as when not. In my pressurized co2 tank they were like weeds. When I moved them to other tanks where I dosed Excel they never came close.

I stopped dosing Excel in tanks with corkscrews if I wanted the best result with them.

My standard dosing regimen was 2 ml/10 gals (40L) after the weekly water change.
