Fishy Suggestions 20/25 Gallon Tank?

Hey guys, just a little update. Looks like the second had  tank I was going to buy has been sold to someone else so now i am looking for something else.

Does anyone have suggestions of a Cichlid or similar type fish that I could just have one or two of in a 25-30 gallon tank?

What do you guys think of this tank LINK

I know nothing about cichlids. Have you measured your dresser yet so you can figure out what size tank you're looking at?
That tank only holds ~9 gallons, and costs too much, imo.

Oops. I thought it would hold a little bit more than that.

This is the dresser I have LINK. It's 1.4m across.

And how about this tank LINK

A pair of rams, a pair of apistos, a pair of red jewel cichlids

Oh and that tank is waaaaay to expensive for its size

Which tank do you mean? The one I linked from the Petstock store or the Gumtree one?

I can't see the "ICE" thing, but 1.4m comes out to ~39 inches.
The Juwel comes out to be ~18 gallons, and imo is too expensive for that small of a tank, but I think it's because of where you are, not sure :/
What is the depth of the dresser? Like from the back to the front? Sorry
Give what DerpPH listed a google and see if you like those.

The dresser is 1.4 m length, 45cm from the wall to the front and 75cm high.

Pet related stuff does seem to be more expensive in Australia. I think the reason for the Juwel tank being so expensive is because he is including filters and crap with it, which may or may not end up being suitable.

That's true, but be wary of that stuff. We just got a secondhand tank and knew the light was dead, went to take out the bulb and the whole fixture fell apart. Another secondhand tank we bought the filter wasn't rated for that size tank, so just make sure you know what you're getting. :)

You can use the measurements to plug into the calculator at the top of the page and it will tell you what size tank that is. I don't know where I got the ~39in thing, just re-googled to check and the 1.4m is ~55in? I'll let you plug in the measurements since I keep messing up :p Sorry I keep going by inches, it's just all I know, so it's giving me a rough idea of what size tank you can get.

Using the calculator I got 55 inches so I think you're on the right track now.

If I were to get a second hand tank with used filters I would definitely try to bargain it down because I don't trust used filters.

Some people will let you take just the tank and then they can sell the accessories separately. With that much length you are looking at a decent sized tank, a 55g is 48 inches ^_^ Not sure how much weight your dresser can hold though.

A simple way to test how much weight the dresser will hold ...just sit on it with a few friends lol, i am using a wire rack that saysit holds 250 lbs per shelf but i was skeptical so i made my hubby sit on it (he would be fine if he fell but my poor fish wouldn't like it lol). If the dresser is made of particle board or mdf or something like that I probably wouldn't put a tank on it since it will warp when it gets wet during water changes but that's up to you and how careful or messy you are. You could use a plastic mat or tray underneath to help that. Good luck.

I wouldn't put a tank on the dresser that is as big as the dresser. Half the length of the dresser for the tank is about as big as I am willing to go.

I weigh 65kg and I can sit on it just fine. This dresser actually seems far more study than some of the fish tank stands i have seen

Ah, I'm sorry. If it were me and I knew that whatever I was putting it on could handle it, I'd be going as big as possible. I'm greedy like that :p
I believe 1 gal of water = 8.5 lbs? Your weight would only come out to like 17 gals if I am looking at it right >< Gah conversions are not my strong suit.
