Fishless Cycling/ Cleaning Used Tank

Hello, I'm new here and I have 2 quick questions:

1) About how long does fishless cycling take in a 30 gallon tank?

2) The tank that I will be using, was used before and now has a gross ring around where the water line was (kind of like a bathtub ring), how should I clean it and what should I use?

The fishless cycle varies in how long it takes, but it’s often between a month and six weeks, sometimes less. There is a good explanation pinned at the top of this page its more reliable than I am about this, I remember feeling like it was taking forever, but its worth the wait.

It depends on what caused the ring, but any white vinegar if it is lime scale scrubbed into it with a soft scrubber should do the trick. Just be careful not to scratch the glass and rinse out the tank well after the vinegar use.
