Fishless Cycle...

With you nearly all the way there, but make mine tea and I'll have to pass on the rolly - packed them up seven years ago...

Hmmmm.... I tested then re-dosed back upto 4ppm yesterday at 1735, this morning ( a full 14 hours later) and i still have 0.25 of both Ammonia and NitrIte...strange. I have just re-dosed to 2ppm and will test again this afternoon. I hope this cycle hasn't 'stalled' !

Regards,
Terry.

-> maybe water change time?

Indeed Kittykat, problem being i completed a 40% W/C only the afternoon before! Anyway, the cycle is back on track nicely... tomorrow lunch time will see me do a large (90%?) water change ready for my fish tomorrow afternoon..!

Watch this space...

Regards,
Terry.

100%, i.e. down to the gravel ;)

Good luck, and don't forget to unplug the heater while you water change!

Thank you Kittykat. First time i done a big W/C on my 30L i forgot to unplug my heater, caught it just in time and it's been fine ever since!

This afternoon i have a flying lesson (b/day present!) and i will be visiting my local Maidenhead Aquatics on the way home. Hopefully they have Black/Goldfinch Neons... i shall phone them in an hour or so to check.

Regards,
Terry.

Are goldfinch neons a colour morph of the black ones?

I have to suspect that hot tea (in the "south" (there is a strong southeastern culture, just as there is a "new england" culture in the northeast USA) when you say just "tea" it is assumed you mean a large pitcher of ice cold (prior to the 1980's many months of the year were spent "sweating" on the front porch calling out to passing neighbors) tea which is sweetened until it reaches the sugar saturation point)... without sugar would be more healthy for me but alas, I was introduced to the pleasures of good coffee and now spend significant effort getting the beans from the one outfit that sells them to you quickly after roasting and then going through my ritual of alternately grinding those beans and yielding to the two siamese cats for another taste of cat food as they have intricately woven themselves into the whole ritual (indeed, they are the unfailing alarm clock, giving my head a light paw tap at exactly the same time of morning each day to wake me.) I confess to having no earthly idea what a rolly is but my mind is now conjuring images of sinful pleasure possibly involving sugar, cinnamon and butter and clearly being counterproductive to one's mile in the pool at lunch!

~~in the passing flow~~

Nothing quite so elegant I'm afraid waterdrop. As you suspected the tea I was thinking of is the English stereotype hot tea with milk- what some of my colleagues might call "builder's tea" to distinguish it from the more exotic Earl Greys, Assams and Lapsang Souchongs of this world. The 'rolly' is even worse I'm afraid, a sinful pleasure indeed - a hand-rolled cigarette...

Sorry for hijacking your topic Terry, it's all in a good cause

omg, , I live across the way from a research hospital and every other person I know is a doc.. I'd quite forgotten there are still people in the world subjecting themselves to that stuff!
