Fish To Breed In 48 Litre River Reef?

had/have borellis in a 48litre planted river reef, but would appeaar that the male is too agressive for breeding purposes, would anyone reccomend adding two females? or perhaps thinking of another relatively easy centrepeice fish to breed?

Honey gouramis are an option. But they would have to be removed once fry hatched/started hatching.

Or Pygmy Gouramis (aka Sparkling gouramis)

Or Shrimp

Or possibly pygmy cories

update = found female borelli dead, is it worth finding a new female/females for the male or should i try something else?

if i left adult honeys in there wud many babies survive? it is well planted with crypts, moss and carpet plants (glossostigma)

I see in your sig you have moved your male to the bigger tank, so why not try some more dwarf cichlids in the 48? Maybe a more placid pair like some type of dwarf acara like nannacara annomala or the common laetacara species like dorsiger or curviceps. If you do honey gourami they dont have the same parental instinct as cichlids and could eat the babies. Sorry to hear about your female though

no my big tank is a breeding pair of cacatuodies, the male in there is pretty big, sorry i havent updated my sig properly, ive just got the lone male borelli in the river reef at my mums house, he still struts roundd the tank like the big boss, but he does give the embers a chase round? im wondering about killis? or should i stick with him you think?
