Fish Suggestions?pics W/guppies

Hi all! I have a Juwel Rekord 60, have had it years now but for the last few months it has been home to only my five ADF's and two little oto's. i wasnt sure if i wanted to get anymore fish but im now thinking about adding a few little ones to the tank, but wanted to make sure that i dont go over stocking as i know i have been guilty of this in the past. I just wondered what suggestions people might have for me in terms of small suitable tank mates that will live comfortably in my tank? I have always wanted Guppies, would that be possible?

Oh and i also really need to redecorate the tank so would appreciate some suggestions on suitable hidey holes and fake plants if anyone can? have looked in different pet shops numerous times but never sure which fake plants would be safe. is it the silk type ones that are ok?

Just wanted to bump my thread up :blush:

lol i was at the LFS today and managed to find two nice ornaments/hidey holes for the tank, just looking online for some nice fake plants at the moment. Also saw some really gorgeous Guppies but didnt want to go getting them without knowing if my tank is suitable(its the males i would want).

Im also needing to replace the bulb in my tank but im not 100% sure which one i need, can anyone with a juwel rekord 60 tell me? sorry for so many questions, you would think im a complete newb to fishies :blush:

I have to admit that im not as passionate about fish keeping as i should be but id like to try and change that.

*Edited* because thanks to google i now know what bulb i need to replace my flickering one :blush:

should really have just checked the one in the tank lid....

Guppies will be fine in a 60l tank. You should consider buying real plants like java fern, anubias, water wisteria and amazon swords. The first two are harder to kill from that group anyway. But they need to be tied onto ornaments (rocks or pots etc.) via string, rubberbands or aquarium safe glue. The others just plant into the substrate.

Thankyou both for the replies, good to know we can have Guppies in our tank ok because ive been after some for years but always ended up with other types! just didnt want to go getting any new fish and making the mistake of over stocking again. I shall be getting them real plants from time to time, havnt had any in there for a while now but i do love getting the real plants in, it always looks much nicer. i was looking for some good fake plants though just to have something more permanent in there and give the frogs more places to hide.

As for piccies, i can try and get one but to be honest our camera isnt as good as it once was so i dont know how it will turn out. have got some really good piccies of the tank in the past, but its having trouble even focusing on the cats half the time now! will try tomorrow though :nod:

the ornaments arent spectacular or anything, just sort of rock formations lol but we have had a ship wreck in there for a while and it was a bit much in such a small tank, especially with mainly the frogs in there at the moment. have cleaned the tank out this evening and put the new stuff in and it does look much better, will look even nicer with some plants and Guppies in though :nod:

*editing again!* because im wondering how many Guppies would be the limit in my tank, what with already having the two oto's and 5 ADF's? im just mega paranoid about over stocking :blush:

and want them all to be comfortable.

Soooo my OH had been chatting to his Dad about us thinking of getting Guppie's and needing a new tank light(his Dad is the one that got us into fish keeping!) and today he turned up with a new light and 4 little blue Guppie's for us

He is very friendly with the workers at the LFS lol the Guppie's fins are a bit tatty but aslong as they are healthy we dont mind!

managed to get some piccies of the tank today too, no plants in there yet but going to get some on sunday so will update with piccies then. even with the Guppie's in there the tank looks empty!

AJ is the cat posing with the tank-its one of his fave places to sleep :wub:
