Fish Selection ?

Hi i have a little 25 litre tank goong threw cycling process wen it is don i was thinking on adding guppys and maybe 2 corys i also have a 64 litre tank and dont know what to put in it Any suggestions

If you want to keep Corys you are better getting 5/6 at least so they will have to go in the bigger tank.Re the guppies,you are best to get at least 2 females for every male also keeping them in the 64l.

IMO 25 liters isn't big enough for anything else than a Betta some shrimp and some endlers

You could also have a small shoal of one of the microrasbora species, or celestial pearl danios. THe tank would need to be well planted for these species to feel secure.

There are other options too for a nano tank. Heterandria formosa, if you can get hold of them, are hardy and very small and have the added advantage of not minding hard water if that should happen to be what you have. The smaller pseudomugils should also be fine in a tank this size.

Half a dozen pygmy corys, half a dozen celestial pearl danios or fish of equal size, a few shrimp on a nice sandy base and lots of easy going plants. job done.

There are many fish suitable for a tiny tank like that but they are not common in your local fish shop because they can be unimpressive and a bit hard to spot when they are in a tank next to a cichlid tank or even a guppy tank. Some nice candidates include Heterandria formosa

black chins

endlers

golden teddies

and all manner of shrimp and similar small things.

You could even get away with a few pygmy cories like this one following a Heterandria (C. pygmaeus)

or C. habrosus

or C. hastatus

Note: all of the fish in these pictures are adults except some of the endlers. It is impossible to have only adult endlers in a tank for more than a few weeks.
