Hold camera on an angle to the tank to prevent the camera flash showing up as a white blur on the picture.Who's got tips on getting decent photos by the casual ham handed photographers among us ? I never get good pictures. Glare on the glass , fish moving too fast are either blurry or gone too quick. Do you need a real camera ?

Thanks @Colin_TDesperately seeking fish photography tips
I finally set up my SLR Canon EOS digital Rebel XT. It’s likely their 1st model, circa 2005. I have a 18-55 mm lens & a 70-21O mm. I purchased a 50 mm f 1.8 lens after seeing fantastic online fish photos taken with it. Mine were awful, worse than the iPad I use. The lens did not mount...www.fishforums.net
Fish and Tank Photography Tips?
There are some great photos in here, of fish in their tanks...and some not so good. To those of you who consistently take crystal clear shots of your tank contents, how do you do it? Do you simply take hundreds of shots, trawl through them all and then edit the best, or do you use specific...www.fishforums.net

Photography
I just can't seem to take a decent picture of fish. The lighting is wrong or the fish keep darting around and the glare on the glass ruins it. I tried different cameras and everything I can think of. I just ain't no Jock Cousteau.www.fishforums.net
Hold camera on an angle to the tank to prevent the camera flash showing up as a white blur on the picture.
Set shutter speed to 1/100 or faster (1/250) so fish aren't blury
Have lots of light on the tank, in the room and use camera flash to help prevent blur.
A digital SLR camera can help because you can set the camera to shutter priority and set the shutter speed to 1/250. The camera then automatically sets the aperture. Some point and shoot cameras (not SLR's) also have that feature. However, you can get good results with a cheap point n shoot digital camera.
