Fish Just Lying There....

Just this morning I wnet to buy the 4 guppies which will be the final fish stocking for my Biube. The lady who caught them was a little rough but apart from that there where no problems. I acclimatised the fish and the put them into the tank. At first they were a little scared but they soon perked up, no fighting or anything. I noticed one of the fancy ones with a large tail was staying at the top of the tank all the time. Came back later to feed and it had found its way down. So off I went to the cinema, I've been away for maybe 4 hours.

I come back to see the guppy that was swimming at the top earlier has now rested on the floor. It is staying upright but there is no fin movement and only minimal gill movement. I went to take a closer look and its fins flared slightly so its defo alive. But is this ok?

I've never had a fish do this yet so should I be worried?
Is there anything I should do?

It would be a real shame if I lost my first fish now, when I have never had any casualties from fish being introduced into a tank. I dediced that this wasn't important enough to go into the Fish Emergency section yet.....

Oh btw heres the tank specs:

Biube 35l
Stocking:
2 male platy
6 cardinal tetra
3 Crystal red shrimp
1 Zebra nerite snail
and the 4 new guppies

The tank has been cycled and is now 7 months old ish.

As its just been added its dificult to say, you didnt notice any whitespot of fin rot when in shop?
What temp is the water?
how are the other fish?
I would say at present that it could be just because you added to new tank, all fish act differently, sometimes they do not survive. But obviously if someone comes up with a theory do not pass on it

Usually when i add new fish i will cover tank with a towel and leave a good few hours.,but thats me

The temperature is around 25c but fluctuates very slightly. The other fish are acting fine, that why I was wondering what is wrong. The guppy itself is in very good condition with absolutely no whitespot or even the slightest rip in its fins.

I just realised it was actually partially stuck under a rock. I put my hand in and carefully moved it away but it isn't moving.... It's still alive and its gills are going crazy. It could have been in there for hours The lights will go out any minute now, they are on a timer.

You may just be unlucky, sometimes fish from shops just dont make it,

Yea Shame really, thing is that it's inside a sort of large cave thingy so if it does die I'll have to dismantle half the tank to get at it. Right after I got it looking nice as well. I'm going to wait until tommorow and try to distrb it as little as posibble.

Another thig to worry about is the substrate of sharp ceramic media, I've already lost a shrimp that buried in it and cut itself up

You may be lucky and save them. My male Betta was the same for about 3 days just lying at the bottom when I first introduced him. You can see my thread in the betta ssection. I was sure he was a gonner but he eventually pulled through.

I saved him! His huge fin had got nipped inbetween two pieces of media, so I did what I could to move them and then I coaxed him out with some bloodworm. I've never tried bloddworm on my fish before but he couldn't resist it and managed to pull himself out. He now has a little rip in his fin but hopefully that will heal.
