Fish Id

It looks very similar to the Oryzias but the elongated dorsal fin just isn't right...

nope not quite, i'm gonna be up all night looking for this little bugger

Bloomin heck that took a long while for the Killi id LOL
Procatopus nototaenia is the most likely suspect as these are the most common,
Its definately a Procatopus sp.
Either Nototaenia, Aberrans or Similis.
There are many different collection locations for each, and they all have slightly different colour patterns. I personall have never kept this genus of killi. but I would err on the side of Procatopus nototaenia.

Yup thats the one - Procatopus nototaenia. Thankyou all for your efforts guys and gals.

Now these are not commonly available and seem to be reasonably tricky to keep in the aquarium. Next step = research research research then i need to find some of them.

Does anybody have any contacts for these fish. Do you think i would stand a good chance of aquiring some at the Redditch auction in December?

No idea at redditch auction but their are many killi breeders there so will surly find someone who may know.

fantastic. Leeds to Redditch and back again - i hope i find some

I will post a add on the killi section.

Once again, thanks very much for the help.
